Overview

GIPR-mAb is a fully neutralizing monoclonal antibody targeting the glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide receptor (GIPR). It was developed as a potential therapeutic for obesity and related metabolic disorders. The mechanism of action involves binding to and blocking the GIP receptor, thereby inhibiting downstream signaling pathways that contribute to energy storage and fat accumulation. Preclinical studies have shown that chronic treatment with GIPR-mAb improves body weight control, glucose metabolism, reduces fat mass, enhances pancreatic function, and increases resting respiratory exchange ratio in diabetic mice. Combination therapy with DPP-4 inhibitors such as sitagliptin has demonstrated synergistic effects on weight loss in diet-induced obese mice[6].
