Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Metronidazole 0.75% gel (GK567) is a topical formulation developed for the deodorization of malodorous fungating tumors. It works by inhibiting nucleic acid synthesis in anaerobic bacteria through the formation of nitroso radicals that disrupt microbial DNA. This mechanism is particularly effective in the low-oxygen environment of chronic wounds where anaerobic bacteria thrive and produce malodorous compounds.
