GKIND006A is a small molecule inhibitor of hypoxia-inducible factor prolyl hydroxylase (HIF-PH) currently under development by China Resources Guokang Pharmaceutical. The drug is designed to treat chronic renal anemia, a condition frequently associated with chronic kidney disease. By inhibiting the HIF-PH enzyme, GKIND006A prevents the degradation of hypoxia-inducible factor (HIF), thereby mimicking the body's natural response to low oxygen levels. This stabilization of HIF leads to increased endogenous production of erythropoietin and improved iron utilization, which collectively stimulate the production of red blood cells. GKIND006A is presently in the IND-enabling stage of development.
