Drug intelligence / Profile preview
GKIND013A is a small molecule inhibitor of the **Transient receptor potential cation channel subfamily C member 5 (TRPC5)**, currently under development by **China Resources Guokang Pharmaceutical**. TRPC5 is a calcium-permeable ion channel expressed in podocytes, where its overactivation is implicated in the pathogenesis of proteinuric kidney diseases. By inhibiting TRPC5-mediated signaling, GKIND013A aims to protect podocytes from injury, reduce proteinuria, and stabilize the glomerular filtration barrier. The drug is being developed as a Class 1 innovative drug in China for the treatment of **chronic kidney disease (CKD)** and **IgA nephropathy**. As of late 2023, GKIND013A is in **Phase 1** clinical trials to evaluate its safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetics in healthy subjects and patients.
