Overview

Glìalia is a medical food (food for special medical purposes) developed by Epitech Group SpA, containing a co-ultramicronized combination of the endogenous bioactive lipid palmitoylethanolamide (PEA) and the flavonoid luteolin in a 10:1 ratio (proprietary name PEALUT®). It acts as a biological modulator of neuroinflammation by regulating the activity of non-neuronal cells, specifically microglia and astrocytes. This mechanism, known as the ALIA (Autacoid Local Injury Antagonism) effect, helps restore homeostatic balance in the central nervous system. Glìalia is indicated for the dietary management of conditions associated with neuroinflammation and neurodegeneration, including cognitive impairment, depression, anxiety, and autism spectrum disorder. It is available in oral formulations such as tablets, microgranules, and suspensions and is marketed in Italy.
