GL113 is a rat monoclonal antibody of the IgG1 isotype that specifically targets beta-galactosidase (β-galactosidase). It is primarily utilized in preclinical immunological research as an isotype control for other rat-derived antibodies, such as the anti-IL-5 antibody TRFK-5. In murine models of asthma and allergic pulmonary inflammation, GL113 serves as a non-binding control to account for the non-specific biological effects associated with the administration of exogenous rat immunoglobulin. By using GL113, researchers can differentiate between target-specific therapeutic outcomes and general immune responses or protein-related artifacts. In experimental settings, GL113 has demonstrated no significant impact on eosinophil recruitment to the lungs or bone marrow, cytokine production, or immunoglobulin levels in sensitized mice. It was manufactured by Verax, Inc. for research purposes.
