Overview
GA Depot is a long-acting, intramuscular, extended-release formulation of glatiramer acetate designed for the treatment of relapsing forms of multiple sclerosis (RMS), including relapsing-remitting MS (RRMS) and active secondary progressive MS (SPMS), as well as being studied in primary progressive multiple sclerosis (PPMS)[1][4][5]. The drug uses microspheres to slowly release the active ingredient over time, allowing for once-monthly dosing compared to daily or thrice-weekly injections with standard formulations[5][6]. Glatiramer acetate modulates the immune system to reduce inflammatory attacks on myelin in the central nervous system. This mechanism helps decrease relapse rates and slow disability progression in MS patients[4]. GA Depot is co-developed by Mapi Pharma and Viatris[4][8].
