GlaucoHealth

GlaucoHealth is a multi-ingredient nutraceutical supplement developed by Dr. Robert Ritch at the New York Eye & Ear Infirmary of Mount Sinai. It is designed to address mitochondrial dysfunction, oxidative stress, and low-grade inflammation in retinal ganglion cells, which are key factors in the progression of glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy. The formulation consists of eight over-the-counter compounds: curcumin, ginkgo biloba extract, citicoline, coenzyme-Q10, N-acetyl-cysteine, alpha-lipoic acid, grapeseed extract, and green tea extract. GlaucoHealth was evaluated in a Phase 1 clinical trial (NCT02984813) using retinal flavoprotein autofluorescence as a biomarker for mitochondrial health. It serves as the precursor to the commercially available medical food GlaucoCetin.
