Drug intelligence / Profile preview
GlaucoSelect is an over-the-counter nutritional supplement combination being evaluated for its neuroprotective potential in ocular diseases. Developed in association with researchers at The New York Eye & Ear Infirmary, the formulation is designed to protect retinal ganglion cells from oxidative stress, low-grade inflammation, and mitochondrial dysfunction. It is primarily studied in patients with open-angle glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy. Clinical evaluation involves the use of a Retinal Metabolic Analyzer (RMA) to measure retinal flavoprotein autofluorescence, which serves as a biomarker for mitochondrial metabolic stress and cellular dysfunction.
