Glavamin

Glavamin is an intravenous amino acid solution developed by Fresenius Kabi, containing a balanced mixture of essential and non-essential amino acids, including the dipeptide N(2)-L-alanyl-L-glutamine. It is primarily indicated for parenteral nutrition to provide nitrogen and amino acids in patients where oral or enteral nutrition is impossible, insufficient, or contraindicated. In the ARTIST-1 trial conducted by Karolinska University Hospital, Glavamin is being studied for its anabolic effects in critically ill patients, specifically to determine if its administration in combination with resistance exercise can improve muscle protein balance and reduce muscle wasting. The amino acids in Glavamin, particularly leucine and glutamine, activate the mTORC1 signaling pathway, a key regulator of muscle protein synthesis.
