Overview

GLCP-048-1 is a small molecule P2Y12 receptor antagonist being developed by Galenicap for the prevention of secondary stroke. The drug targets the P2Y12 receptor, a G protein-coupled receptor found on the surface of platelets that is essential for adenosine diphosphate (ADP)-induced platelet aggregation. By inhibiting this receptor, GLCP-048-1 prevents the activation of the glycoprotein IIb/IIIa complex, thereby reducing platelet thrombus formation. This antiplatelet mechanism is intended to provide a therapeutic option for patients at risk of recurrent ischemic events following an initial stroke.
