Diaretin M is a fixed-dose combination pharmaceutical product containing the second-generation sulfonylurea **gliclazide** and the biguanide **metformin**. It is indicated for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus in patients whose glycemia is not adequately controlled by diet, exercise, and monotherapy. Gliclazide acts by stimulating insulin secretion from pancreatic beta cells through the inhibition of ATP-sensitive potassium channels.
