Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Glicoset is a nutraceutical dietary supplement developed and marketed by SPA Società Prodotti Antibiotici, designed to support the maintenance of normal blood glucose levels and prevent the progression to type 2 diabetes in individuals with dysglycemia or prediabetes. The product is a fixed-dose combination of three active components: *Ilex paraguariensis* (Yerba mate) extract, *Morus alba* (white mulberry) leaf extract, and chromium picolinate. Its mechanism of action involves the synergistic effects of its ingredients: *Morus alba* contains 1-deoxynojirimycin, which inhibits alpha-glucosidase to reduce postprandial glucose absorption; chromium picolinate enhances insulin receptor sensitivity; and *Ilex paraguariensis* modulates carbohydrate and lipid metabolism. Launched in 2022, Glicoset is indicated for individuals at risk of cardiometabolic disorders and is recommended as a once-daily oral tablet alongside lifestyle modifications.
