Glimecare-M2

Glimecare-M2 is a fixed-dose combination oral antidiabetic medication developed and manufactured by Apgar Pharmaceuticals. It contains two active pharmaceutical ingredients: glimepiride (2 mg) and metformin. Glimepiride is a second-generation sulfonylurea that lowers blood glucose by stimulating insulin secretion from pancreatic beta cells through the inhibition of ATP-sensitive potassium channels. Metformin is a biguanide that improves glycemic control by decreasing hepatic glucose production, reducing intestinal glucose absorption, and increasing peripheral insulin sensitivity. This combination therapy is indicated for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adult patients when glycemic control is not achieved with diet, exercise, or monotherapy with either agent alone.
