Overview
Glisu-2MP is a fixed-dose combination oral tablet developed by Biomax Biotechnics for the management of Type 2 diabetes mellitus. It combines three anti-diabetic agents with complementary mechanisms of action: glimepiride, a second-generation sulfonylurea that stimulates insulin secretion from pancreatic beta cells by binding to the SUR1 subunit of ATP-sensitive potassium channels; pioglitazone, a thiazolidinedione that acts as a potent agonist for the peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-gamma (PPAR-gamma) to improve peripheral insulin sensitivity; and metformin, a biguanide that primarily reduces hepatic glucose production and enhances insulin-mediated glucose uptake. This triple combination is designed to target multiple pathophysiological defects in diabetes, including insulin resistance and impaired insulin secretion. It is currently approved and marketed in India.
