Glizigen

**Glizigen** is a Catalysis product line centered on activated glycyrrhizinic acid, a liquorice-derived glycyrrhizinic-acid preparation. The name is formulation-nonspecific: it has been used for oral nutritional-supplement solutions and topical or intravaginal genital products, including gels and sprays. The oral solution also contains vitamins, zinc, amino acids, glucosamine, and liquorice extract. A randomized placebo-controlled Phase 4 study evaluated co-administration of Glizigen oral solution and vaginal gel for biopsy-confirmed cervical intraepithelial neoplasia grade 1 associated with high-risk human papillomavirus infection. Glycyrrhizinic acid has reported preclinical antiviral, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, immunomodulatory, and antiproliferative activities, including reduced HPV E6 and E7 oncoprotein expression in experimental systems; however, a single validated molecular target and clinically established therapeutic mechanism for the Glizigen product line have not been established.
