GLK-301

GLK-301 is a sterile ophthalmic topical cream developed for the treatment of signs and symptoms of dry eye disease (DED). It is the first investigational drug candidate utilizing Glaukos’ iLution platform, which features patented cream-based formulations applied to the outer surface of the eyelid. This approach enables dropless transdermal delivery of pharmaceutically active compounds directly to the eye via absorption through the eyelid dermis. The active pharmaceutical ingredient in GLK-301 is pilocarpine, a well-known cholinergic agonist that stimulates muscarinic receptors to increase tear production. Clinical trials have demonstrated improvements in tear film quality (tear break-up time) and reductions in blurred vision among DED patients treated with GLK-301[1][2][3][4][5][6][8][9].
