Overview

GLK-302 is a sterile ophthalmic topical cream designed for dropless transdermal delivery of pilocarpine, applied to the outer surface of the eyelid using the iLution platform, for the treatment of presbyopia. Its cream formulation serves as a depot, allowing the active pharmaceutical ingredient pilocarpine to be absorbed through the dermis of the eyelid to the eye. The mechanism of action is via pilocarpine, a cholinergic muscarinic receptor agonist that induces miosis (pupillary constriction) and increases depth of field, thereby improving near vision in presbyopic patients. The drug is under development by Glaukos and is currently in Phase 2 clinical trials in the United States for presbyopia.
