Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Globimetula cupulata leaf extract is a botanical extract being investigated for its neuroprotective properties, particularly in the context of Parkinson's disease. Research indicates that the extract exerts its effects through antioxidant and anti-inflammatory mechanisms. In preclinical models, it has been shown to improve motor function and mitigate oxidative stress by increasing levels of superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), and glutathione (GSH), while reducing malondialdehyde (MDA) levels. Additionally, it demonstrates anti-inflammatory activity by reducing the expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines such as TNF-alpha and IL-6.
