Drug intelligence / Profile preview
G. velutinum aqueous fraction is a water-soluble extract derived from the leaves of the plant *Glochidion velutinum*. This botanical fraction is characterized by a rich phytochemical profile containing phenolic and flavonoid compounds, including epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), ellagic acid, isovitexin, and rutin. In preclinical studies, the aqueous fraction has demonstrated significant cytotoxic activity against prostate cancer (PC-3) cell lines, with an IC50 of 36 µg/mL, while showing negligible toxicity to normal macrophages. Its anticancer potential is attributed to the synergistic action of its diverse constituents, which include benzoic acid derivatives, tannins, coumarin glycosides, and terpenoids.
