Glox001

Glox001 is an engineered protein bacteriocin being developed by Glox Therapeutics as a precision antibiotic for the treatment of ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP) caused by *Pseudomonas aeruginosa*. As a biologic therapeutic, Glox001 utilizes the specific killing mechanisms of bacteriocins—naturally occurring antimicrobial proteins—to target *P. aeruginosa*, a high-priority Gram-negative pathogen. Unlike traditional broad-spectrum antibiotics, Glox001 is designed to be highly species-specific, selectively eliminating the pathogen while preserving the patient's healthy microbiome. This approach is intended to combat antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and provide a more targeted treatment for severe respiratory infections. The platform was developed from over 20 years of research at the Universities of Glasgow and Oxford.
