Glox002 is an engineered protein bacteriocin being developed by Glox Therapeutics as a precision antibiotic for the treatment of ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP) caused by *Klebsiella pneumoniae*. Bacteriocins are naturally occurring antimicrobial proteins produced by bacteria to kill closely related strains. Glox002 utilizes a proprietary platform to engineer these proteins to selectively target and kill specific Gram-negative pathogens, such as *K. pneumoniae*, while preserving the host's beneficial microbiome. This approach aims to address antimicrobial resistance (AMR) by providing a narrow-spectrum alternative to traditional broad-spectrum antibiotics, thereby reducing collateral damage and the selection pressure for resistance in non-target species. Glox002 is currently one of the lead programs in Glox Therapeutics' development pipeline.
