Drug intelligence / Profile preview
GLP-1(32-36)amide (also known as VTC-G15 or LVKGR amide) is an investigational pentapeptide cleavage product derived from the C-terminus of glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1), specifically from GLP-1(9-36)amide. It acts as a GLP-1 receptor (GLP-1R) agonist and functions as a novel insulin sensitizer. Unlike full-length GLP-1, GLP-1(32-36)amide increases whole-body glucose uptake and disposal without stimulating insulin secretion or altering glucagon levels. Preclinical studies have shown that the pentapeptide increases basal energy expenditure, activates AMPK signaling, and prevents the development of diet-induced obesity, insulin resistance, and hepatic steatosis. It was initially developed by ICON and has been evaluated in a Phase 1 clinical trial sponsored by Dariush Elahi, PhD, for the treatment of insulin resistance.
