Drug intelligence / Profile preview
GLP-1 Fc fusion protein (also referred to as GLP-1-Fc) is a preclinical-stage biologic drug being developed by Shandong Huabo Kaisheng Biotechnology. It is a recombinant fusion protein consisting of a glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) moiety fused to the Fc region of an immunoglobulin. This design is intended to extend the molecule's half-life relative to native GLP-1, allowing for less frequent administration. The drug acts as an agonist of the glucagon-like peptide 1 receptor (GLP-1R), activating the receptor to enhance glucose-dependent insulin secretion and to regulate appetite and gastric emptying. It is currently under investigation for the treatment of metabolic diseases, primarily type 2 diabetes and obesity.
