GLPC is a specific molecular weight fraction of β-D-glucan derived from the fruiting bodies of the medicinal mushroom *Ganoderma lucidum* (Reishi). It is produced through the ultrasonic degradation of the high-molecular-weight parent polysaccharide GLP, resulting in a weight-average molecular weight (Mw) of approximately 6.53 × 10^5 g/mol. Structurally, GLPC consists of a β-(1 → 3)-linked D-glucose backbone with β-(1 → 6)-D-glucopyranosyl branching units and maintains a triple-helix conformation in aqueous solution. GLPC exhibits significant anti-inflammatory activity by inhibiting the expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines and chemokines, including tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α), interleukin-8 (IL-8), macrophage migration inhibitory factor (MIF), and monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 (MCP-1). Research indicates its potential as a therapeutic agent or dietary supplement for inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD), such as ulcerative colitis, by suppressing intestinal inflammation and protecting colonic tissue.
