Overview

GLPG1205 is an investigational small molecule drug developed by Galapagos. It acts as a selective antagonist of G-protein-coupled receptor 84 (GPR84), a receptor implicated in inflammatory and fibrotic processes. The drug was primarily investigated for the treatment of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) and ulcerative colitis. In clinical studies, GLPG1205 showed good pharmacokinetics and tolerability but did not meet efficacy endpoints in ulcerative colitis. In IPF, it demonstrated a trend toward reduced decline in forced vital capacity compared to placebo but was associated with higher rates of adverse events when combined with certain standard-of-care therapies[2][4][6][10]. Development for ulcerative colitis has been discontinued; development for IPF was also terminated after initial Phase 2 trials.
