GLPG2196

GLPG2196 is a small molecule inhibitor targeting G-protein coupled receptor 84 (GPR84). GPR84 is a receptor found in various tissues, including immune cells, adipose tissue, and the gastrointestinal tract, where it is involved in inflammatory and metabolic processes. By inhibiting GPR84, GLPG2196 aims to modulate inflammation by blocking the binding of medium-chain fatty acids and interfering with downstream signaling pathways. Developed by Galapagos, GLPG2196 was initially part of an inflammation alliance with Janssen Pharmaceutica, but Galapagos later regained full rights to its GPR84 program, which includes GLPG2196 as a backup compound to GLPG1205.
