Overview

GLPG2851 is an orally administered **small molecule C1 corrector** developed for the treatment of cystic fibrosis. As a C1 corrector, it targets the **cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR)** protein, specifically aiming to improve folding and trafficking defects caused by the F508del mutation in CFTR. GLPG2851 was designed as a backup to GLPG2222 within the C1 corrector series, chemically distinct but functionally similar, and was developed to be part of potential combination therapies to enhance CFTR function in patients with cystic fibrosis. It was developed by Galapagos in partnership with AbbVie, and entered Phase 1 trials to assess safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetics in healthy volunteers. GLPG2851 is not an approved or marketed drug and remains in early-stage development as a component of combination regimens for cystic fibrosis[1][3][4][5][7][15].
