Overview

GLPG5885 is an investigational "armed" bispecific chimeric antigen receptor T-cell (CAR-T) therapy developed by Galapagos for the treatment of B-cell malignancies. The construct is designed as a bispecific CAR, meaning it is engineered to recognize and bind to two distinct antigens on the surface of malignant B-cells, a strategy intended to reduce the risk of relapse due to antigen escape. The "armed" component of the therapy typically refers to additional genetic modifications intended to enhance the CAR-T cells' persistence, expansion, or potency within the immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment. In October 2025, Galapagos announced a strategic decision to wind down its cell therapy activities, leading to the discontinuation of the GLPG5885 program as of early 2026.
