Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Glubran Tiss 2 is a sterile, two-component surgical adhesive and medical device composed of a blend of n-butyl cyanoacrylate (NBCA) and 2-octyl cyanoacrylate (OCA). This formulation is designed to provide a balance between high tensile strength (from NBCA) and elasticity (from OCA), making it suitable for both external skin wound closure and internal surgical applications, such as mesh fixation in laparoscopic and robotic hernia repairs. Upon contact with tissue moisture or hydroxide ions, the liquid monomers undergo an exothermic polymerization reaction to form a thin, flexible, and waterproof film that acts as a physical barrier with haemostatic and bacteriostatic properties. It is CE-marked as a Class IIa medical device and is often used in conjunction with the Glutack delivery system for precise application.
