Drug intelligence / Profile preview
The experimental combination of glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1), oxyntomodulin (OXM), and peptide YY (PYY)—collectively referred to as GOP—is an unapproved, investigational triple gut hormone therapy. Developed by researchers at Imperial College London, GOP is administered as a continuous subcutaneous infusion designed to mimic the elevated postprandial hormone levels typically observed following Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGB) surgery. The three peptide components act as agonists at the glucagon-like peptide 1 receptor (GLP1R), the glucagon receptor (GCGR), and the neuropeptide Y receptor type 2 (NPY2R). In clinical studies, GOP infusion has been shown to be well tolerated, significantly reducing food intake and body weight while improving glycemic control and glucose tolerance in patients with obesity, prediabetes, and type 2 diabetes.
