Overview

Inespecin is an orally administered immunomodulator containing glucidolipids (glycolipids) of Salmonella typhi. Developed and marketed by Instituto Biológico Argentino (BIOL), it is approved in Argentina and other Latin American countries for the prophylaxis of infectious processes through the non-specific stimulation of organic defenses. Inespecin acts by stimulating the immune system, increasing properdin and complement levels, and activating human mononuclear cells to differentiate into activated macrophages, thereby enhancing the body's innate immune response against pathogens.
