Glucosamine 6-phosphate is a phosphorylated derivative of glucosamine and an intermediate in the hexosamine biosynthesis pathway. It is produced from fructose-6-phosphate and glutamine by the enzyme glutamine—fructose-6-phosphate aminotransferase (GFAT), catalyzing the first step in hexosamine metabolism[1][3].
