Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Glucosaminyl-muramyl dipeptide acid (GMDP-A), chemically known as N-acetylglucosaminyl-N-acetylmuramyl-L-alanyl-D-glutamic acid, is a synthetic glycopeptide and a derivative of glucosaminylmuramyl dipeptide (GMDP). Developed by Peptek, GMDP-A acts as an agonist of the intracellular Nucleotide-binding oligomerization domain-containing protein 2 (NOD2) receptor, a key sensor of innate immunity. It modulates immune responses by activating natural killer (NK) cells and other immune cells. GMDP-A has been investigated as an immunomodulator and biological response modifier in cancer therapy to enhance the efficacy of cytostatic chemotherapy, and it is also utilized as a postbiotic ingredient in anti-aging cosmetic formulations to restore the epidermal barrier and improve skin hydration and elasticity.
