Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Glucose and sodium chloride injection is a sterile, nonpyrogenic solution used for fluid and electrolyte replenishment and as a source of calories. Developed and manufactured by Fujian Shengdi Pharmaceutical (a subsidiary of Jiangsu Hengrui Pharmaceuticals), this combination product typically contains dextrose (glucose) and sodium chloride in various concentrations, such as 5% dextrose and 0.9% sodium chloride. In clinical research, it is frequently employed as a placebo control or a vehicle for the administration of investigational drugs, such as the vasopressin V2 receptor antagonist HRS-9057. Sodium chloride is the principal salt involved in maintaining the osmotic tension of the blood and tissues, helping to replace essential ions, while glucose provides a readily available source of metabolic energy.
