Gluma Desensitizer

Gluma Desensitizer is a topical dental desensitizing agent used to treat and prevent dentin hypersensitivity. It is primarily indicated for the reduction or elimination of pain in exposed cervical areas not requiring restoration, as well as for alleviating or preventing dentinal sensitivity after preparation of teeth to receive direct or indirect restorations[1][4][5][6]. The product contains glutaraldehyde and hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA) as its main active ingredients. Its mechanism of action involves the precipitation of plasma proteins within the dentinal tubules, which reduces dentinal permeability and occludes peripheral tubules, thereby inhibiting fluid movement that causes sensitivity[5][9]. Additionally, it provides a seal that acts as a microbial barrier. Gluma Desensitizer is applied topically to exposed dentin surfaces without mixing or curing and has been widely studied in clinical settings since its launch in 1992[4][6].
