**GLUT5-expressing CAR-T cells** are genetically engineered T cells that ectopically express the GLUT5 fructose transporter alongside a chimeric antigen receptor (CAR), enabling them to utilize fructose as an alternative energy source in glucose-deprived tumor microenvironments (TMEs). Developed through preclinical research, this approach addresses key limitations of standard CAR-T therapies in nutrient-poor TMEs by promoting fructose-driven anaerobic glycolysis and lactate production, maintaining effector functions under repeated antigen stimulation.[1][3][5][7]
