Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Cetylcide-G is a high-level disinfectant and cold sterilant concentrate containing 3.2% glutaral (glutaraldehyde), developed and manufactured by Cetylite Industries. It is specifically formulated for the rapid disinfection of heat-sensitive medical and dental instruments, such as endoscopes and respiratory therapy equipment, that cannot be sterilized using steam or heat. The mechanism of action involves the alkylation of sulfhydryl, hydroxyl, carboxyl, and amino groups in microbial proteins and nucleic acids, which disrupts essential metabolic processes and cellular structural integrity. This provides broad-spectrum activity against bacteria, viruses, fungi, and spores. Cetylcide-G is a marketed product used in clinical settings to maintain infection control for reusable medical devices.
