Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Glutathione + vitamin C is a combination of two potent antioxidants used primarily as a dietary supplement. Glutathione is an endogenous tripeptide that plays a critical role in cellular detoxification, immune function, and protection against oxidative stress. Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) is an essential water-soluble vitamin involved in collagen synthesis, immune support, iron absorption, and also acts as a powerful antioxidant. When combined, these agents work synergistically to neutralize free radicals more effectively than either alone; vitamin C helps regenerate reduced glutathione levels within cells. This combination is widely marketed for skin health—particularly for reducing hyperpigmentation (melasma), lightening skin tone by inhibiting melanin production via tyrosinase suppression—and general anti-aging benefits due to their ability to reduce oxidative damage[3][4][5][6]. It may also be used as adjunctive therapy in chronic conditions associated with increased oxidative stress or nutritional deficiencies.
