Drug intelligence / Profile preview
GLX-100 is a novel, crosslinked glycosaminoglycan (GAG) biopolymer designed to closely replicate the natural protective barrier of the bladder wall. It is intended for intravesical instillation as a glycosaminoglycan replenishment therapy (GRT) for interstitial cystitis/bladder pain syndrome (IC/BPS). The drug acts locally by binding to and restoring the damaged urothelial layer, thereby improving bladder impermeability and reducing symptoms such as pain, urgency, frequency, and nocturia. Unlike current single-chain GAG therapies with limited efficacy and residence time, GLX-100’s crosslinked structure provides higher affinity for the bladder surface and longer residence time. There is no systemic absorption. Developed by Glycologix, it has completed Phase 1b studies showing promising safety/efficacy results and is in ongoing clinical development[1][2][3][8].
