Drug intelligence / Profile preview
GLX7013159 is a selective small molecule inhibitor of NADPH oxidase 4 (NOX4), developed by Glucox Biotech AB for the treatment of diabetes mellitus. By inhibiting NOX4, GLX7013159 aims to reduce oxidative stress and improve beta-cell survival and function. Preclinical studies in diabetic mice transplanted with human islets have shown that treatment with GLX7013159 leads to lower blood glucose levels, reduced water consumption, improved insulin and c-peptide levels, enhanced insulin secretion capacity, and significantly decreased rates of apoptosis in human beta-cells. These effects are attributed to the compound’s ability to mitigate diabetes-induced beta-cell dysfunction through targeted NOX4 inhibition[1][3][5][6].
