Overview

GLY-102 is a synthetic heparin-derived oligosaccharide currently in preclinical development by Glycan Therapeutics. It is designed as an anticoagulant for the prophylaxis of deep vein thrombosis (DVT). The drug exerts its therapeutic effect through the selective inhibition of Factor Xa, a key serine protease in the coagulation cascade that mediates the conversion of prothrombin to thrombin. By utilizing chemoenzymatic synthesis to produce a defined oligosaccharide structure, GLY-102 aims to provide a more predictable pharmacological profile and improved safety compared to traditional, heterogeneous heparin products derived from animal sources.
