Overview

GLY-103 is a synthetic heparin-derived oligosaccharide being developed by Glycan Therapeutics as an anticoagulant. It functions as a selective inhibitor of Factor Xa, a key enzyme in the blood coagulation cascade that mediates the conversion of prothrombin to thrombin. By specifically targeting Factor Xa, GLY-103 aims to provide effective thromboprophylaxis with a reduced risk of bleeding complications compared to traditional anticoagulants. The drug is currently in Phase 1 clinical development, primarily focused on the prevention of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) in patients undergoing hip and knee replacement surgeries in China. The development is supported by a partnership with an undisclosed global pharmaceutical company.
