GLY-200

GLY-200 is a first-in-class, orally administered, non-absorbed polymeric drug developed by Glyscend Therapeutics for the treatment of type 2 diabetes and obesity. It is designed to bind to and enhance the barrier function of gastrointestinal mucus in the duodenum (upper small intestine), acting as a non-invasive alternative to metabolic (bariatric) surgery and duodenal exclusion devices. By strengthening the natural mucus barrier, GLY-200 aims to restore beneficial gut-mediated signaling pathways—such as increased release of GLP-1 and PYY—which are associated with improved glycemic control, appetite suppression, reduced food intake, weight loss, and other metabolic benefits. Clinical studies have shown that oral administration of GLY-200 leads to significant reductions in postprandial glucose levels and body weight in patients with type 2 diabetes.
