Overview
A combination therapy using glyburide (a sulfonylurea) with insulin for diabetes management. Glyburide is a second-generation sulfonylurea that works by stimulating insulin secretion from pancreatic beta cells through closure of ATP-sensitive potassium channels. This increases intracellular calcium concentration, which triggers insulin release. When combined with insulin therapy, this approach provides complementary mechanisms for blood glucose control, with insulin providing exogenous hormone replacement.
