Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Bell's Glycerin of Borax is a traditional topical antiseptic solution containing borax (sodium tetraborate decahydrate) dissolved in glycerin (glycerol). It is primarily used to soothe and protect mucous membranes, providing relief from mouth ulcers, sore throats, canker sores, and other minor oral irritations. Borax exerts mild antiseptic, antibacterial, and antifungal properties by disrupting microbial cell walls and interfering with metabolic pathways, while glycerin acts as a humectant and emollient, forming a protective barrier over the affected tissues to retain moisture and shield them from external irritants.
