Drug intelligence / Profile preview
GlycoFlu is a preclinical glycomimetic drug candidate developed by AIS Biotech for the prevention and treatment of Influenza A and B. It consists of synthetic, complex sialylated oligosaccharides that function as decoy receptors, mimicking the cell-surface receptors (sialic acids) typically targeted by influenza viruses. By binding to the viral hemagglutinin, GlycoFlu neutralizes the virus and prevents its entry into host cells. The drug is produced via an industrializable bioengineering process using metabolically engineered *E. coli* and is designed for administration as a nasal spray. Its mechanism is intended to be independent of viral mutations, potentially providing a universal approach against seasonal and pandemic influenza strains.
