glycopyrronium tosylate

Rapifort is a topical anticholinergic medication containing glycopyrronium tosylate, specifically approved in Japan for the treatment of primary axillary hyperhidrosis (excessive underarm sweating). It is the Japanese brand name for the product marketed as Qbrexza in the United States. The drug is formulated as a 2.5% solution applied via a single-use cloth towelette (wipe). Glycopyrronium acts as a competitive antagonist at muscarinic acetylcholine receptors; by blocking these receptors on eccrine sweat glands, it inhibits the cholinergic signal that triggers sweat production. The product was developed by Dermira (now a subsidiary of Eli Lilly), licensed globally to Journey Medical Corporation, and out-licensed to Maruho Co., Ltd. for the Japanese and broader Asian markets. Maruho received manufacturing and marketing approval in Japan in January 2022.
