Glycosade

Glycosade is a hydrothermally processed, high-amylopectin waxy maize starch designed as an extended-release carbohydrate source for the dietary management of hepatic Glycogen Storage Diseases (GSD), including Types I, III, VI, and IX. Developed by Vitaflo International, it is engineered to provide a slow, sustained release of glucose over several hours, thereby prolonging the duration of euglycemia and preventing nocturnal hypoglycemia more effectively than standard uncooked cornstarch (UCCS). This sustained glucose availability can reduce the frequency of nighttime feedings, eliminate the need for continuous gastrostomy tube dextrose infusions, and improve sleep quality for both patients and caregivers. Beyond GSD, Glycosade has been investigated for managing hypoglycemia in conditions such as insulinoma and Glucose Transporter 1 (GLUT1) deficiency syndrome.
