GlyCylic

GlyCylic is a topical wart remover developed and marketed by The Tetra Corporation, primarily indicated for the treatment of common and plantar warts caused by human papillomavirus (HPV). The formulation utilizes a combination of salicylic acid (17%) and glycolic acid to achieve its therapeutic effect. Glycolic acid, an alpha-hydroxy acid, penetrates the outer layers of the wart to facilitate deeper penetration of salicylic acid, a beta-hydroxy acid, which causes the skin to swell, soften, and peel away. In addition to its keratolytic activity, the product contains ethyl pyruvate, povidone-iodine, and glycerin, which are intended to provide immunomodulatory, antiviral, antiseptic, and anti-scarring effects to promote healing and minimize inflammation. GlyCylic is typically dispensed through physicians and is applied topically for up to 12 weeks.
